General expectations:

The most important thing to remember in this class is that everyday somebody wants to learn and everyday I plan to teach, so everyday you need to respect that whether you’re tired, hyper, angry, or bored. While we’re on the topic of attitude, also remember that the more you’re actively engaged in learning something, the more interesting and pleasant this class will be.
Grading:

100 – 90 |
The grading scale in all my classes is the same and English has point categories as follows:
● Composition: 20% ● Reading Tests: 20% ● Language Tests: 20% ● Classwork: 20%In all my classes, I will give a grade for class attitude. Attitude is measured by use of class time, work ethic (trying to do quality work rather than the minimum), respect for others, and cooperation. That is recorded weekly and makes up about 10% of your grade.
If an attitude grade is not enough of a motivation, we teachers have been asked to treat inactivity as negative behavior, so you can work your way through the discipline process by "doing nothing".
Rules:
The district has written an entire handbook of rules and I plan on following them. If you don’t have a handbook, it is posted on the school web page. Having said that, I am fully aware that most of you haven't read the handbook, so let me stress some policies that were stressed to the teachers this year.
I hope that this is happy and productive year that we can all enjoy. Thanks for reading this far!
